Take control of your disability journey
Ability8 helps people with a disability, their families, nominees and circle of support to independently manage NDIS plans and support staff — care, money and people, in one place.
Born from our own disability journey — person-centred tools that make self-management genuinely easier, on your phone, tablet or computer.
Why Ability8
Self-management is empowering. The admin shouldn't be the price.
Choosing your own supports means becoming the organiser — and often the employer: rosters, timesheets, award-style pay rates, tax, super, payslips, bank payments, NDIS claims and the evidence to back it all. Most families hold that together with spreadsheets, folders and four different portals. Ability8 replaces the juggle with one system that was purpose-built for it.
Everything in one place
Care needs, funding, staff, documents and history live together — findable in seconds, not buried in folders.
Share and communicate
Bring in the people who matter and share exactly what each of them needs — nothing more, nothing less.
You're in control
Choice and control aren't just NDIS words. You decide who does what, and the app keeps the record straight.
Pick the way you work
Three ways to run your supports
Start with the care profile every family needs. Add invoice tracking when money flows. Add staffing when you employ or contract your own team — the app grows with you, and the models work side by side.
Care & succession planning
Build the complete care profile: personal care requirements, likes and dislikes, medications and allergies, important contacts, funding details, equipment, goals and life history — securely shared with your circle of support.
Track payments to providers, suppliers and therapists. Email invoices straight into the app, allocate costs to Core, Capital and Capacity Building, claim from the NDIS portal and reconcile — with a dashboard that shows where your plan stands.
Directly employ or contract your own support team. Schedules and timesheets flow into wages with PAYG and super handled, STP reported to the ATO on payday, one bank file that pays everyone, and payslips sent automatically.
Everything to do with your disability supports, in one place
Schedule & open shifts
Roster shifts, let workers accept on their phone, and post open shifts your team can pick up.
Timesheets & approvals
Shifts convert to timesheets with one tap. Approve them and every later dollar traces back to agreed hours.
Pay runs & payslips
Wages, PAYG and super calculated for you. Payslips are emailed and filed automatically.
Budgets & live spend
See Core, Capital and Capacity Building budgets against real spend — not a spreadsheet you update at midnight.
NDIS claims & reconciling
Build payment requests from your records, then reconcile what the NDIA pays against what you delivered.
Email invoices in
Forward a PDF or photo an invoice — the details are read automatically and a draft payment is created for review.
Documents
Agreements, letters, reports and payslips stored against the right person and the right record.
Chat
Message your team in the same place the roster lives — no group-text archaeology.
Notifications
Email and push notifications for shift changes, approvals and the dates that matter.
The participant profile
Care requirements, medications, contacts, equipment, goals, history — the full picture in one record.
Circle of support access
Invite family, workers, bookkeepers and coordinators with fine-grained permissions for each person.
Reports & exports
Wage details, allocations, permissions and payment reports — exportable when your plan manager or auditor asks.
Succession planning
The plan that doesn't live in one person's head
In most families, one person carries the knowledge — the routines, the doses, the funding rules, which worker suits which shift. If that person is suddenly unavailable, the care shouldn't unravel. Ability8 is built so it doesn't.
Documented, not remembered
Care requirements, medications, routines, equipment, contacts and history sit in the profile — written down once, kept current.
A circle, not a single point
Nominees and family members can hold access today, or be granted it the day they need it — with the right permissions from minute one.
Permissions you control
Fifty fine-grained switches decide who can view or edit each area. Handover doesn't mean handing over everything.
A record that stands up
Approvals, payments, claims and changes leave an audit trail — continuity for your family and evidence for the NDIA.
Accessibility
Built to be usable by the people it serves
An NDIS app that isn't accessible is a contradiction. Ability8 is designed with accessibility as a requirement, not a retrofit — for participants, older family members, and workers filling in a timesheet on the bus.
Works with keyboard and screen readers — proper headings, landmarks and labels, with visible focus everywhere.
High-contrast text and large touch targets that meet WCAG guidance, on every screen including forms and tables.
Phone-first: installs to your home screen like an app, with screens that adapt instead of shrinking.
Plain language throughout — the app says “approve the timesheet”, not jargon.
Respects your system settings, including reduced motion.
Security & trust
Sensitive information, treated that way
Your family's data is isolated
Every family's records are separated at the database level — access control enforced where the data lives, not just in the screens.
Per-person permissions
Each member of your circle sees only what you've granted. Workers see their shifts; bookkeepers see the money; you see everything.
Compliant money rails
STP reporting to the ATO and super paid through the Beam clearing house — the same regulated channels employers use, sized for a family.
Australian-built
Built in Australia for the NDIS, with your data hosted onshore and an audit trail across payments, claims and changes.
“Ability8 allows my family to keep everything in one central location, so I don't have to spend hours sorting through folders to find something I think I once had.”

Questions
Asked by families like yours
Who is Ability8 for?
People with a disability who self-manage, and the people around them — family members, nominees, support coordinators and trusted workers. You choose who sees what: every person gets their own login with permissions you control.
Do I need to be good with payroll or accounting?
No. The app turns approved timesheets into correctly valued wages — weekend and public-holiday loadings, tax withheld using the ATO tax tables, super at the legislated rate — and produces the files your bank, the ATO and the super clearing house need. You review and approve; the maths is done for you.
What if I only want to track invoices, not employ anyone?
That works too. Use Ability8 to capture invoices (email them straight in), allocate costs to your plan budgets, claim from the NDIS portal and reconcile what comes back — without any payroll features in your way.
Can support workers see private information?
Only what you give them. Permissions are per-person and per-area — a worker can see their own shifts and timesheets without seeing funding, medical details or anyone else's pay.
What happens to our setup if the main organiser can't continue?
That's the point of the succession plan. Because care knowledge, funding, staff records and history live in the app — not in one person's head — a nominee or family member can be granted access and continue without starting from scratch.
